PV Sindhu Injury: A Decision Made After Expert Consultation

After undergoing a complete evaluation of her recovery and rehabilitation, Sindhu’s team — along with renowned sports medicine expert Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala — collectively decided that prioritising healing over competition was the best way forward.

In her statement, Sindhu shared:

“After consulting closely with my team and with the guidance of the incredible Dr Pardiwala, we felt it was best for me to withdraw from all remaining BWF Tour events in 2025. The foot injury I sustained before the European leg has not fully recovered… but injuries are part of every athlete’s journey. They test your resilience and patience, but they also spark the fire to come back stronger.”

Focus on Recovery and Rehabilitation

Despite showing improvement, Sindhu’s foot injury still requires careful management to ensure full, sustainable recovery. Under the supervision of Dr Wayne Lombard, Nisha Rawat, Chetna, and coach Irwansyah, Sindhu has already begun a structured rehabilitation programme.

Her training plan focuses on:

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Recovery protocols
  • Gradual return to on-court sessions

The goal is to regain full match fitness without risking long-term setbacks.

A Difficult but Wise Choice

Stepping away from competitive badminton was far from easy for a player of Sindhu’s stature. However, her team and medical staff agreed that complete recovery must take precedence over short-term tournaments.

Sindhu expressed gratitude to her fans and supporters:

“Recovery and training are already in motion. I am surrounded by a team that gives me strength every single day. Their belief in me fuels my own. Thank you all for your endless love and support — the journey continues soon.”

PV Sindhu Injury Update: Expected Return in Early 2026

In her press statement, Sindhu revealed that she aims to return to competition by January 2026, focusing the remainder of 2025 on physical rehabilitation, fitness rebuilding, and strategic preparation.

Her team believes this break will not only help her recover fully but also strengthen her mental and physical resolve as she prepares for key global tournaments leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
